Indian Railways Relaxes Age Restriction For Recruitment Tests

The Indian Railways have relaxed the age restriction for the recruitment test for employing people in varied categories after the protest in Kerala and Bihar while stating regional languages including Malayalam and Bangla as an option for giving recruitment examinations.

The Indian railways stated that the earlier the upper age limit of 28 has been revised with 30 for appearing for the exam of the loco pilot and assistance loco pilot for the unreserved category. It further stated that the age limited has been revised for other categories as well that include OBCs with 33 years which was 31 years earlier and SC or ST it has relaxed and fixed for 35 years which was 33 earlier.

In the same way, the unreserved category for the group D exam the upper age restriction is revised and fixed for 30 years which was 28 earlier while OBCs it has been revised and fixed at 36 years from the earlier 34 years, for ST or SC it is revised and fixed at 38 years which was 36 earlier.

The website of Railway Recruitment Board was opted to apply online for the railway jobs from the month of January–February which nearly accounted for 90, 000 positions in group “C” level that includes Pointsman, Track Maintainer, Porter, Gate Man, Helper and level II of group “C” involves Technicians (Crane, Carpenter, Fitter, Blacksmith, Driver) and ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot).

The statement further mentions that the regional languages will be available for the candidates for giving the examination that includes Tamil, Bangla, Malayalam, Telugu, Odia, Kannada, and many others as decided.

The recruitment process has been started and open for applicants who have passed ITI and Class X for the level I of Group “C” and diploma or graduation in engineering or ITI and Class X. The candidates from Bihar violently protested for the reduced age limit while the candidates from Kerala protested to allow them for giving examination in the regional language, i.e. Malayalam.
