The Movie and TV people have been getting used to a reduced level of image quality when they stream their favorite services for some time at least. Both Amazon as well as YouTube have confirmed on this Friday that they are going to be reducing the video streaming in the European Union for ensuring that they do not face any bandwidth issues while the pandemic of coronavirus goes on.
A spokesperson of YouTube has in his statement said that they have made their commitment of switching all the traffic in European Union to the standard definition as a default.
Both the companies have joined Netflix which had announced that they would be cutting the quality in European Union for the standard definition.
The video streaming giant has been a major internet traffic source in the world, Netflix has made a commitment of cutting their download speed by 25%. The company has said that it was going to reduce their video bitrates and therefore lower the streaming quality
The spokesperson of Amazon in his statement has said that they need to manage the telecom services carefully for ensuring that they can handle the demand increase of internet so that everyone who is now home does not have to head out. The Prime Video has been working with the internet providers and local authorities for understanding where they need to help in the mitigation of the network congestion which include Europe where the efforts have begun for reducing the bitrates and still maintaining streaming experience.
All of these services have been making their changes and have immediately been following the requests of EU for the internal market and services. It is noted thought that Amazon will also reduce the quality when there is a need.
